Final Post

As far as I can tell, this will be the last post on the We Support Williams website.

Dr. Williams and the school board have reached a settlement and as Matthew Tully from the Indianapolis Star suggested, Dr. Williams is the “hero” and settling to help end this ordeal in Perry Township.

This website will remain available into the immediate future. I will decide what to do with permanently when the domain name is up for renewal.

Thanks to everyone that’s visited and shared your thoughts and opinions. Hopefully this has been enlightening to everyone to see just how important local elections are and the value of staying involved in your children’s education.

First of all, Jason (admin), thank you again for these web resources.

Dr. Williams, thank you for many years of fine service. Most of our “kid years” were under your leadership. You deserve much praise for all you have done.

Unless you are legally prevented from disclosing the terms of the settlement, it would be a nice gesture to “break” the story on this site or TBPS. I understand that the newspaper has the big audience, but please consider telling us first…at least by a few hours.

I’d also like to hear your WHOLE story. Of course I understand if you are working with a publisher at this point.

I think many of us would appreciate your thoughts on where we should go from here. What should we do to change the official relationship between the board and the administration? How can we recognize a good candidate? What should their “platform” look like?

It’s hard to uncover personal vendettas and power-hungry motivations when so little information is available about candidates. I knew Nancy Walsh thought highly of herself, but I would have never guessed this would happen. So while no system is foolproof, what would you advise as we try to fill your very large shoes? I understand you have no official obligation to answer, but it does seem reasonable to throw us that bone. Thanks for considering…

    Good luck going forward.

Thanks. Your questions are great ones as we move forward and try to recover from this mess. I would love for the details of the settlement to be released here before the main media outlets.

Have I missed something? Has Dr. Williams left us? Did he take a deal and quit? I am a little lost here! I have not been well and have missed out on a lot. Please inform me on what is happening!

Jason - I, too, thank you for keeping everyone informed and for providing a place for the community to sound off about this whole mess. The work you and others have put into both websites is more valuable than you know.

I am hoping what you meant was that, while this might be the last post on the We Support Williams website, you plan to continue the TBPS website.

As a new Super is chosen, and when the bond issue is revisited later, among other things, there will still be much information that needs to be passed along to the community with regard to what is happening under the reign of these four people.

Another thought: as the next school board election approaches, honest, objective information on the various candidates is going to be of the utmost importance to the community. There will never be a more important time for people to educate themselves and then get out there and vote for who you truly want to represent you. Candidate question and answer forums, etc., both written and vocal, will and should be scheduled, and several of them. If a candidate doesn’t want to communicate with the public, then that should tell you something.

I truly believed that this would not end with Dr. Williams leaving Perry Township. How sad that more people don’t recognize that his leadership, as well as the administrators he’s surrounded himself with, has been valuable over the years. I wonder what makes people think that the grass is going to be so much greener with someone else? No one gets along with everyone all the time. Personalities conflict, I know I didn’t always get along with Doug or my fellow board members all of the time, either - but you work through it.

I would rather have someone like Dr. Williams, Bill Brown, and others, on my team than on a team I’m competing against, I do know that.

So, that being said, I hope everyone keeps up the vigilance at the meetings, and seeking information, because the apparent resignation of Dr. Williams does not signal the end of this by any means. You still have four people who have no intention of properly representing you at the helm. I hope that the recent vote by Nancy Walsh on all of you footing the bill for her personal attorney fees can be persued through some kind of legal means.

    Something has to give soon.

    Nancy Douglass
