Question: |
Teachers are worried about cuts. |
|
Answer: |
The administration is responsible for deciding when cuts are needed. I have not been informed of any need to cut the budget. |
|
Question: |
Teachers are worried about class sizes. |
|
Answer: |
It would be my hope that the Board makes class size a priority. Class size is tied to the budget. If we reduce class size, we have to look at ways to restructure what we are doing. We need to look at the success of programs we have in place. This is also the responsibility of the administration. |

Question: |
Teachers are scared about their future…salaries, jobs, etc. |
|
Answer: |
I believe everyone in education fears for the future. The legislature has not been kind to education in the past. The change in administration will not affect salaries, jobs, etc. The legislature determines this. However, I do fear that we have made committments that will drastically impact our budget and our ability to stay competetive. The past and present administration do not share my concerns. I hope this is the case. |

Question: |
Who is making decisions during this interim period? |
|
Answer: |
Mr. Nichols is the interim superintendent. He is making all necessary decisions. In the past few months, we have committed to moving forward with New Tech High. They are in the process of choosing a principal. We are moving forward with plans to address future overcrowding. Mr. Oldham has proposed a solution and the adhoc committee is supporting his proposal. We will have four community meetings in March to address concerns the public might have with the proposal. I do not know of any decisions that are being delayed. I am told by Mr. Nichols that we are operating with business as usual. I have not reason not to believe him. |
