School Board Meeting: Monday, January 22nd, 6:30pm @ Southport High School Auditorium

I want to make sure that everyone is aware of the next school board meeting. It’s scheduled for Monday, January 22nd at 6:30pm. It will take place at the Southport High School Auditorium, which is where all future board meetings will take place from here on out.

If you’ve never been to a school board meeting, I really encourage you to attend one and see for yourself what happens at these meetings. You’ll first be amazed at the inability for the president to run a school board meeting, much less a multi-million dollar school corporation.

You never know when someone will be escorted from the building for asking questions the board doesn’t want to answer.

Of most importance at this meeting, we’ll get to hear when the board has scheduled the Open Forum with the public to occur. This motion was passed at this past Monday night’s school board meeting. Everyone was supposed to get together with Mr. Nichols and clear their calendars. It will be interesting to find out just how quickly they’re planning on holding this Public Forum for the township.

I have e-mailed all the school board members and 3 have responded (Walsh, Houchin, Buffie). The open public forum has been delayed indefinately. The board members met with a facilitator after the Jan. 8th school board meeting (reason meeting was cut short). The facilitator indicated the board was too divided and holding a public forum would be disastrous. He suggested postponing the public forum until the board learns to communicate and get along.
