Someone made me aware tonight that someone is bragging on the IndyStar blogs about taking the Take Back Perry Schools signs from people’s yards and throwing them in the dumpster. I can only imagine that this is Mark Thompson continuing his behavior. What’s amazing is he’s bragging about doing it.
I would imagine that any individual that has one of the orange signs taken from their yard could file a criminal tresspass and theft report and direct the police to the comments made on the IndyStar site. In a criminal investigation like that the IP addresses of the offending person would be requested with a warrant and that person would be brought in for questioning.
Here are a couple of the comments:
There are 14 signs in a dumpster behind Rosa Parks. I think it is emptied today around noon. I though that was a funny place to put them. Since that’s the Bean’s school. I am trying to get 14 a night so I’ll be done about thursday night. I may leave one so you can sign it for Dr. Doug and he can put it in his new office. Maybe.
Is it any surprise that this person would name my family specifically after I went to him personally and showed him I wasn’t backing down from him or his behavior? He’s a classic grade school bully that’s only grown up in age and size, not intelligence or maturity.
All you wondering were I am? I got 8 so far tonight? Only 6 more. What school will be getting them tonight? Maybe Southport High school? Terry Rice’s school. Tomorrows collection will go in Gayle Houchins Apartment Dumpster. They are getting fewer and fewer, harder and harder to find. But, I will not stop until I destroy them all. I encourage anyone that sees someone removing a sign from someone’s yard and getting into a vehicle immediately report it to the police. Also, let me know if anyone has a sign taken out of their yard.
Looks like Mr. Thompson is challenging us to a game of endurance. He can’t keep this up forever, but we can. Sounds like its about 800 vs. 1.
Whether this is Mark Thompson, Joe Blow, or anyone else. Stay out of my yard.
I have a right to make any public statement I wish. I have and I will continue to do so. If you disagree with me fine. That just means you are wrong(IMO).
My sign still stands! Just try and take it!! My sensor lights will alert me to your presence, and I’ll have you arrested! I’m SURROUNDED by police officers in my neighborhood! You can take all the signs you want, but I will replace them again, and again, and again, and again! I’ll wear you out!! You will NOT make me back down, and you CANNOT shut me up!! Just because Susan Adams dings a bell any time someone tries to speak the truth at a board meeting doesn’t mean you can steal my right to express my opinion in my own YARD!! Susan’s little ding-a-ling only has jurisdiction in the SHS auditorium!!
Jason Bean, for trying to have an informative website and having a voice of reason in all this craziness. It is really frightening to listen to the rantings of Mark Thompson and his group. They sound “unhinged”. Instead of calmly stating their side of the argument (as you try to do), they brag about stealing signs and trespassing on private property. How do they think that makes their side look? I also wanted to say thank you to SFSC Brett Naum for his service to our country and for trying to make some sense in all this ugliness.

I urge you to not use Mark Thompson’s name. As you state, you can only imagine that it is him. Additionally, we don’t want to give him more credit than he deserves. We are advertising for him. We should not be using this site to make assumptions. We need to focus on the positive energy of our goals. We also need to make sure that everybody is aware that this is happening by an unprofessional person who is acting illegally. We should have all people who have had their signs stolen report it to the police. That would be good publicity. We should also have anybody who has illegal dumping in their dumpsters review their security cameras to find the culprit. Please don’t use his name without proof.

I agree with Teresa. If we have prove it is Mr. Thompson, let’s encourage the victim of the theft and trespass to press charges. If we do not have authorative proof, then let’s not use the name of any individual until we can prove he is doing it. Let’s keep our eyes peeled and videocameras ready. Neighbors can also help if they see such action and give description of the culprit or their vehicle etc. (plate numbers).
Nicole - I can access the Star comments on everything but the site linked above. Not sure why because it worked the first time and then the next time - it only shows 2-3 comments.
Regardless, at least our sign is still standing in our yard!
The reason you can no longer access the comments on the IndyStar blog was because they were wiped away after the individual was bragging about criminal behaviour and theft.
If someone comes onto my property to remove a sign or anything else, they will also be removing my foot [Edited by Admin]
I can’t believe what I am reading. I am a 60 year old Grandmother raising a grandson in this township. My husband’s and my siblings all went to school here in the township and owe our lives to a great school system. We were schooled well and learned a lot of good life lessons from this township. My husband and I were gone from this area for 25 years and came back to enjoy the peaceful township life. Then we became “parents” to our Grandson. He has been schooled here since the age of 4. He has been in school for 7 years and had great teachers. They became good teachers under a great superintendent. I don’t have a personal opinion yet of Dr. Williams but under his leadership we have great!!!!! schools. With all this childish fueding don’t we look foolish in the media? Do you think talented teachers want to apply to teach here in the future? I say this School Board is wrong in the way it started handling this situation from day one. Get rid of your pride, think only of our children’s education and allow mediation. I will be there not only to support Dr. Williams for bringing this township so far, but to support better education and communciation in this township. I support Dr. Williams, I support the great teachers and the students of this township but I do not support these actions of this school board. As my grandchild says “Shame on You”

I would (and have before for different reasons) place a web cam w/motion detecting software to point at the signs. It is cheap and easy to do, and then we can find out who is really taking these signs and prosecute.
